Is there anything more adorable...
...than an 18 month old dancing his booty off? No. No there is not. Case in point:
I could just eat him up. I love that little turkey and couldn't be more proud to be his Ya-Ya!

A Lesson in Punctuation
It's time for me to shamelessly air some embarrassing dirty laundry for y'all. Please feel free to laugh your butts off at my expense...because I definitely did. Yesterday I was shopping around for a Tickle Me Elmo for Roman (the littlest LOML). He and I share an undying love for the furry little red monster, and I'm gonna get killer Ya-Ya points for this gift, I'm sure. Anyway, I'm browsing Target's website and I come across this:
He has this caption underneath..."Sesame Street Talking Elmo". Now, because I was in a rush, AND because my web browser is wonky, I read it like this:
Sesame
Street Talking Elmo
The conclusion I immediately jumped to was that our society as a whole is going to hell in a handbasket because OBVIOUSLY "Street Talking Elmo" was an all time LOW, even for us. I was so amped up about it that I just had to show Nate as soon as I got home. Luckily, he quickly made me realize that, no, there is NOT a "street talking Elmo" and also, that Target should put some hip punctuation in their description so mistakes like this don't happen.
Sesame Street - Talking Elmo.
See how easy that was? Yes, I'm a moron, but I did have a pretty awesome day imagining the things Street Talking Elmo would say...which then had me THIS close to ordering that Elmo and bringing him out at parties as a conversation piece. Good thing I didn't...I don't know if I would ever have gotten over the disappointment.
Word up to my homies.

L

Pitt Bull vs. Tickle Me Elmo
I'll let you decide who the winner is...also, anyone who thinks pitts are "ferocious by nature" have obviously never met mine.

Oh how Pintersting...
Howdy and Happy Hump Day my little bloggity friends :) I should probably apologize for my impromptu disappearance. You know how it is when life gets crazy and the fun things unintentionally take a back seat. It always seems to get that way around this time of year. Last Friday 11/11/11 My brother-in-law got married (the same one who is giving me a new nephew in the spring) and last week was filled with all kinds of things getting ready for their big day. It was beautiful and I'm thrilled to death to have a new sister!

Moving on...it's Wednesday and that means it's time for a little Pinteresting fun. As always, I'm linking up with The Vintage Apple and I would encourage you to do the same! Last week I paid tribute to someecards for always making me laugh, and this week it's smartphOWNED/Damn You Autocorrect's time to shine :) I pinned the majority of these or found them on the previously mentioned website, which is why you won't see any linkbacks under each picture. You can check them out on my Awesome Sauce board here. If you ever need a good laugh, go browse those sites for yourself...you might just pee your pants. As a fair warning,

Hope these find you well and made you laugh as much as I did!

Don't Blink...
...because 10 years will fly by and you'll have no idea where they went.

The picture on the right is a few years old, but I think it gets the point across |
He's my biggest blessing. Our relationship and the life we've built together is the one "thing" that I am continually proud of...it's the one thing I know I've done right. I love you Nathan Allen...here's to our next decade, and many more to come!

Thank you Steve Jobs
A few weeks ago Nate and I were driving in the car arguing about how he was getting the iPhone 4s and I didn't deserve to have it because I always get the new/fun things and blah blah blah...ok maybe that's a little slanted but I'm pretty sure I'm never wrong and that's how I remember the conversation going. Whatever. Don't judge me.
Basically I was trying to explain to him that there is already a "siri" type thing on the iPhone 4...and that I never use it. So he could have the 4s and I would be patient, wait to get the 5, and then rub it in his face about how much better my phone was than his. He didn't believe me so I proceeded to demonstrate the voice control feature. I said "AMY" and the phone responded "calling Amy". Smug, and again right, I stuck my tounge out and told him to quit challenging my authority.
What happened next was one of the funniest iphone fails EVER. Nate, annoyed at my overly bratty attitude, grabbed my phone, said "Go Eff yourself" into the speaker...which forced my phone to make an executive decision and respond by dialing my gynecologist.
iPhone: 1 ; Nate: 0

The one where I rant about the sanctity of marriage
Ok. Before I unknowingly offend anyone let me say this: I understand every situation/marriage is different. I don't judge anyone who has been, is going, or is considering getting a divorce. Honest. This post is more about how as a WHOLE Americans are cheapening the vows they take by ending their unions before they've really even started. Not only that, but it's sending a message to kids that "you can go ahead and have your awesome fairytale wedding *Cough*KIM KARDASHIAN*Cough* and then just leave the man/woman after the fact...just so you get the "experience".

*insert eye roll here* |
When we got engaged I had a LOT of older family/friends come to me and ask if "I was sure". At the time, I'll admit, I was pretty offended. We had been together for 7+ years by they time we got engaged, so um, yeah, I thought I was pretty damn sure.
Going on 3 years into our own marriage, I now understand why I was met with so much (well intentioned) skepticism. Of the umpteen couples that got married around the same time or after Nate and I, SEVERAL are already divorced. I don't know what went on or the situations that led them to make that decision, but I can tell you this, it's NOT because marriage is a "fairy tale" and a cake walk.
Another thing. Once you get that shiny ring on your finger, you need to make sure you spend
If anything comes out of this rant I want it to be this: Marriage is NOT what you think it will be. Some parts will be, but there are so many things that will surprise you about the person you marry, no matter how long you were together beforehand. Trust me. We've been together 10 years and I'm still learning. People can't tell you enough that your first year of marriage is going to be hard. Ours SUCKED. Seriously, I won't go into details here, but if you'd like to know some of the struggles we faced (including but not limited to: unemployment, clinical depression, failing grades, eviction and being fired from a dead end job) please feel free to email me. Murphy's Law took full effect on our relationship but we've come out on the other side stronger for it. If your first year is easy, count your blessings and hit your knees because there will be a time that things aren't and you'll need the support of your God, family and friends to help you make it through.
I'm sorry if I somehow offended anyone with this. That wasn't my intention. I just needed to get it off of my chest. I feel like if more people were honest and upfront about the work they've put into their relationships instead of just putting on a "show" it would be obvious how big a commitment you we making. I honestly still felt a little blindsided but what I've learned is that the road won't always be easy, but it will always be worth it. I posted this picture on my facebook yesterday and wanted to go ahead and share it on here too.

**UPDATE** Please click the comments link and read the one from my friend Lacey. She was incredibly thoughtful/brave to share her advice from another side of this topic and I can't thank her enough for that!
Oh how Pintersting...
I can't believe it's already Wednesday! This week feels like it's flying by (not that I"m complaining!). Happy Hump Day my blogitty friends :) It's time for another edition of Oh How Pinteresting Wednesday; my favorite link up EVER with The Vintage Apple!
I have yet to do a "theme" with my pins, and tend to just post things I found entirely too funny not to share. But this week The Yankee has made me laugh/tagged me in some truly hysterical pins so this one is dedicated to her! They majority she showed me, but I've included a few extra since my last few Wednesdays have been a little lacking. Enjoy!
